David Fugitt, 74
David Keith Fugitt passed away Sunday morning, July 22, 2012, at his home in Berea, Ky. He was born June 16, 1938, the son of William Fugitt and Lucille Fugitt in Portsmouth, Ohio and the grandson of Lanson and Carrie Chamberlain of Ashville, Ohio. After attending East High School in Sciotoville, Ohio David enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years. After his time in the Air Force, he worked for the Ford Motor Company before beginning a career as an engineer for Northfork & Western Railroad. He worked as an engineer for Northfork & Western and then Northfork & Southern for 27 years before retiring in 1990.
David was married for 44 years to his wife and best friend Carol. From this union came three children: Chad Lanson Fugitt (wife Jennifer) of Corbin, Ky., Jeffrey William Fugitt (wife Cathy) of Richmond, Ky., and Michael David Fugitt (wife Brandy) of Portsmouth, Ohio. David was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia. From this union came Timothy Keith Fugitt of Chicago, Ill. and Penny Jo Moore (husband Rick) of Portsmouth, Ohio. In all he was blessed with five children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
David was a member of Glades Christian Church in Berea, Ky. He was a lifelong fisherman. He enjoyed breeding and showing Tennessee Walking Horses. His family and his friends will miss him.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Lakes Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Fugitt and Pastor Rick Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
