Kathleen Lewis, 69

Kathleen Margaret Lewis, of Portsmouth, died Sunday July 8, 2012. She was born Sept. 24, 1942, in Dyersville, Iowa. She was a graduate of Xavier High School, Dyersville, Iowa, 1960; Mercy School of Nursing Dubuque, Iowa, 1963; and Ohio University, Bachelor Science of Nursing, summa cum laude, 1998. She worked as an E.R. nurse 45 years. She is survived by her husband, David L. Lewis, whom she married Feb. 9, 1974; her daughter, Laura Kerry Simonds, born 1975; her son, Craig Elliott Lewis, born 1980; her beloved dog, Betsy; granddaughter, Leslie Rawlings Lewis, St. Clairsville, Ohio; and sister, Janann Wiest, Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha & Elmer Westmark; and brothers, John Westmark, Thomas Westmark and William Westmark. She was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish where she was a reader and assisted with the food pantry; and was a member of the Portsmouth Quilt Guild. She loved quilting, reading and traveling.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Adam Streitenberger officiating. Burial will be in Scioto Burial Park. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth.
