Douglas Riggs, 63

Douglas Lee Riggs, 63, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at his residence. He was born July 20, 1948, in Portsmouth, to Bruce Riggs, Jr. and Georgia Webster Riggs of McDermott.

He was an employee of Waller Brothers Stone Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Riggs, June 20, 2012, and a daughter, Cindy Riggs.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Jeromy Riggs of McDermott; one daughter, Wendy Essman of Otway; four grandchildren, Joseph Essman, Kayla Riggs, Kady Essman and Brandon Riggs; three step-children, Tera Liles, Steven and Jesse Prince; and 12 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three brothers, William (Barbra) Riggs of McDermott, Mark (Toni) Riggs of Dayton and Robert (Cathy) Riggs of North Carolina; and three sisters, Neysa Riggs of McDermott, Jeanne Bradford of McDermott and Lori Riggs of McDermott.

At his request, his body is to be cremated; and there will be no visitation or service.

Arrangements are under the direction of F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth.
