The family of George H. Maple Jr. has entrusted the SWICK-BUSSA-CHAMBERLIN FUNERAL HOME, 11901 Gallia at Hayport, Wheelersburg, with his funeral arrangements. A Funeral service celebrating the life of George H. Maple will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Pete Michael officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Mr. Maple, 82, of Sciotoville, was born July 24, 1929, in Cleveland, a son of the late George Harold Maple and Minta Alice Dowdy Maple. He was formerly employed by Empire Detroit Steel Corporation and was a member of Central Church of Christ. He was married Dec. 7, 1964, in New Boston, to Lucille Alley Maple, who preceded him in death Aug. 24, 2006. Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Wrage, of Minford and Jill Iery and husband Jerry, of South Shore; one son, Jim Addington and wife Ann, of Athens; his brothers, Don Maple and wife Beulah, of New Boston; Tony Maple and wife Janet, of Zanesville; Morris Maple and wife Linda, of West Portsmouth; Ike Maple, of Virginia; his sisters, Gertrude “Gertie” Bowen and husband Bill, of Arlington, Va.; Ruth Baker and husband Dolan, of N.C.; Martha Slark and husband Ralph, of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Ronald Maple.
