In a letter dated Dec. 27, 2012 Portsmouth Insurance Agency, Inc. announced it has become affiliated with Berndt and Murfin Insurance Agency. The move is anticipated to bring more services to the area and extend the reach of both agencies in the region.

The letter states, “we are pleased to announce that as of the first of the year, Portsmouth Insurance Agency will become affiliated with the Berndt and Murfin Insurance Agency for personal and commercial insurance services and with Tabit, Arganbright & Hazelbaker, Inc., for health insurance and employee benefit plans.

Portsmouth Insurance has been serving the Portsmouth area since 1864 and we believe this combination will allow us to continue our tradition of excellent local service and insurance expertise in today’s vastly changing insurance markets.

These affiliations will further augment our market capabilities and will allow us to expand our many specialty areas of expertise to an even broader regional basis. This will only enhance our ability to serve all our client’s insurance needs.”

According to Charles (C.B.) Herrmann, President of Portsmouth Insurance Agency, Inc., the move will be a good thing for the community.

“This is going to help both companies provide our clients with better insurance and ensure we have the best prices,” Herrmann said. “This is a good thing, we are very excited about it. This gives us the bulk, the size and the company access that will carry us into the future, very well.”
