Paul Newton, 83

Paul Edward Newton, 83, of Wheelersburg died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born June 25, 1929, in Scioto County, Ohio, the second son of the late Earl and Wilma Cooper Newton. He worked at the Steel Mill and retired from the State Workers Compensation, Safety and Health and Hygiene division. He also served in the Army during the Korean conflict and a member of the James Dickey Post No. 23 American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Potter Newton, his parents, one sister, Wilma Louise Newton and two brothers, Earl R. Newton and Roy G. Newton.

Surviving are two brothers, Howard L. Newton and Larry G. Newton both of Portsmouth and several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special companion of 15 years, Pauletta Sheets and her family.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastors Darren Lore, Vernon Lore and Lisa Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the services on Saturday. Military services will be conducted by James Dickey Post No. 23 American Legion. In lieu of flowers and gifts memorial donations may be made to Hospice Of SOMC.
