Shirley Stout, 48
Shirley Ann Stout, 48, of Portsmouth, passed away at her home Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born in Portsmouth Nov. 27, 1963, to the late Charles and Miriam Jean Luther Austin. A Christian, Shirley was a homemaker and a Salvation Army volunteer.
Surviving are her children, Jeffrey Austin Stout and Amanda D. Stout, both at home; a grandson whom she reared, Nathaniel Murphy; a brother, Steve Austin of Portsmouth; three sisters, Donna (Bob Horner) Broughton of Portsmouth, Tammy (Donnie Rhoden) Broughton of New Boston, and Debra (Kevin) Cline of Portsmouth, Debra (Kevin) Cline of Portsmouth; and her longtime companion, John Wise of Portsmouth.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers; Randy and Rick Austin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Howard Pruitt officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
