Edna King Bennett, 90

Edna Reuwilbia (King) Bennett, 90, a former Minford area resident was born at home on May 12, 1922, and passed away on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jane (Bennett) Wolfinger and Joseph D. Wolfinger in Middletown, Md.

She was the daughter of the late Walter Wilbur King and Effie Ellen (Nance) King of Shonkwiler Road, Lucasville, Ohio. She was the widow of the late Everett Alfred Bennett, whom she married on Aug. 1, 1942, in Richmondale, Ohio, at the home of Rev. Maple.

As a child she attended Fallen Timber Church, and later attended Fairview Baptist Church then Central Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was a 60 year member of the Lucasville, Ohio Eastern Star No. 495 and did a lot of cooking, baking and cleaning for the Masons and Eastern Stars. She was active in the church, Madison Grange, Pomona Grange, both at the state and local levels. She worked on a dairy farm before getting married, then worked for the Williams Shoe Lace Factory in Portsmouth. She was a hard worker and enjoyed and loved the people for whom she cleaned houses. She appreciated their generosity and thanked them for the difference they made in her life, and the lives of their family.

Everett and Edna had two children, Everett King Bennett and Jane Carol Bennett. She loved Scioto County, and enjoyed living there for 80 years before moving to Maryland to live with her daughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Alfred Bennett, on May 3, 1998; her son, Everett King Bennett, on Oct. 15, 1999; her siblings, Lawrence King and his wife Dorothy (Conkel) King, Dale King and his wife Carme (Brewer) King, Delbert King and his wife, Ruth (Walls) King, Clytie (King) Kuhns and her husband, Dale Kuhns, Ida (King) Beadle and her husband, Clay Beadle, Gerald King and his wives Cleo (Rose) King and Lillian (Dabney) King Moore who survives, Clayton King and his wife, Marie (Rockwell) King, who survives, Flossie King who died at birth, Rosella Effie “Chubby” King, nephews, Dale Edwin Kuhns, Harold and Don Beadle, and sister-in-law, Rita (Warren) King, (wife of George King).

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane Carol (Bennett) Wolfinger and her husband, Joseph, of Middletown, Md.; two brothers, Herbert and his wife Getta Louise King, of Minford, Ohio, George King of Portsmouth, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Marie (Rockwell) King of Owl Creek Road, Lucasville; former daughter-in-law, Daisy Anny (Spry) Bennett of Ohio; former son-in-law, Keith Dorn Burchett of Minford, Ohio, whom she loved dearly; grandchildren, Ellen Louise Burchett (Aaron) of Sherrills Ford, N.C., Emily (Burchett) Burrill and husband Dyan Burrill of Tortola, BVI, Nathan Keith Burchett of Middletown, Md., Everett Andrew Bennett, Jennifer Ellen Bennett, Eric Dale Bennett all of Ohio; great grandchildren, Leeloo Jane Burrill of Tortola, BVI, (Emily’s daughter), Kala Bennett of Ohio, Gavin Cole Bennett of Grandy, N.C., (Everett’s children), Edna Marie Bentley, Kierastn Tackett, Hollan Holly Paige Tackett of Ohio, (Jennifer’s children), Eric Alfred and Ginger Shianne Bennett, (Eric’s children), all of Ohio, two great-grandsons, children of Kayla Bennett of Minford, Ohio.

She has a tremendous love for her best friend, Frances Hamilton, and all of her relatives from her husband’s side of the family. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters-in-law, Ruth Sword and Helen Allen.

Services will be at a later date with burial in Bennett Cemetery in Minford, Ohio. Arrangements are being handled by the Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithburg, Md., 21783
