It recent weeks, several campaign signs have been popping up throughout Lewis County, Ky. Thankfully, most of the signs in Lewis County are for Republican candidates — a clear indication that people are fed up with the way Democrats are running this country and Commonwealth. However, there is one sign that is of particular concern to the Lewis County Republican Party.

Anita Gilbert, Democratic candidate for Lewis County Judge Executive, has felt it necessary to include a Republican Party elephant on her campaign signs. Let me make this clear: the Republican Party does not endorse Anita Gilbert for Lewis County Judge Executive, does not advocate for Mrs. Gilbert’s election, nor has Mrs. Gilbert sought permission from the Republican Party to use our logo.

On the contrary, the Lewis County Republican Party is 100 percent behind our nominee for Lewis County Judge Executive, Thomas Massie. Thomas is the fiscal conservative that is needed in government today. Thomas and his family have been out talking to the residents of Lewis County and he knows well the issues that we are facing. The Lewis County Republican Party is honored to have a candidate of Mr. Massie’s caliber to step forward and offer himself to the service of the electorate. Thomas will be a breath of fresh air when he takes office in January 2011.

No doubt, Mrs. Gilbert will continue her unauthorized use of the Republican Party logo.

Please know that Thomas Massie is our candidate and the leader that this county needs. Please vote on Nov. 2 for Thomas Massie and the rest of our great Republican candidates.

Benjamin L. Harrison, chairman

Lewis County Republican Party

Vanceburg, Ky.
