The Otway Fire Department will observe Fire Prevention Week with a Safety Awareness Day from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Otway Community Park. There will be fire trucks, free giveaways for the kids, door prizes, Smokey the Bear, etc. Food which will be available for purchase will include either a hamburger or hot dog with chips and pop for $3.

Pancakes offered Saturday at East
The East Madrigals will have a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the East High School cafeteria, 224 Marshall Ave., Sciotoville. Tickets will be $5 and may be purchased at the door or contact (740) 776-7692.
Benefit yard sale is planned
Benefit yard sale for the Michael W. Powell Scholarship will begin at 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday at 3894 Rosemount Road, Rosemount. The sale will include many donations from many families.
The sale will raise money for a college scholarship for Clay High School baseball and softball players to be given upon graduation
Ham radio license exam is set
Examinations for anyone wanting to obtain a new or upgraded Amateur Radio License from the Federal Communications Commission, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Museum of Radio and Technology, 1640 Florence Ave., off Harvey Road, Huntington, W.Va. These exams will be sponsored by the Tri-State Amateur Radio Association.
All examination elements will be offered for all classes of Amateur Radio Licenses. A fee of $15 will be charged per test.
Preregistration is not necessary but applicants must present two forms of acceptable identification including one picture i.d. Also an applicant must bring the original of any ham license currently held and any Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE) which he or she claims for credit from a previous exam.
