He was born March 18, 1934, in Vernon Township, to the late Everett J. and Darlene F. (Ruth) Lemon. David retired as a senior operator with Texas Eastern Gas Company after 25 years. He also worked at Kyova Pipe Company in Ironton and was retired from farming. He was a Bloom-Vernon School Board member for 25 years, a member of Wheelersburg Western Sun No. 91 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, past 4-H advisor and Porter Grange. He was a graduate of Wheelersburg High School class of 1952.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Burl, Don, and Carl; and one sister, Mary Jane Bertram.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda L. (Cheek) Lemon; one daughter, Diane L. Campbell of Minford; one son, David Jr. (Patty) Lemon of Jackson; one brother Ralph (Vera) Lemon of Live Oak, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Mildred Lemon of Wheelersburg; seven grandchildren, Lisa Steele, Jill McDowell, Crystal Horton-McCoy, Robin Szekely, Tana Beasley, Kyle Lemon and Ross Lemon; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with his nephews Dale Bertram and Mike Lemon officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Masonic services will be 8 p.m. Friday.
