First responders, law enforcement, and members of the military were honored. I never saw the American flag better displayed nor honored by so many people from all parts of Scioto County.
I was blown away by the Plymouth Heights choir. They were superb. I could feel the emotion and spirit in each song that brought together “one nation, under God.”
No matter what the mainstream news media tells you; no matter what members of the U.S. Congress say in their “politically correct” rhetoric; no matter how courts interpret the Constitution; there is a sacred link between this great nation and our Judeo-Christian heritage.
It is obvious when an event like “Lest We Forget” brings that heritage in line with a celebration of our great nation.
I listened with great interest every time Tim quoted one of our founding fathers’ reference to the need for divine intervention, crediting our creator with all the principles that this nation was founded on.
Those people who would subvert the foundation of this great nation will still have to contend with the man who goes to work every day, and the woman who spends a large portion of her time interceding for her children and our leaders.
They’re still here. They don’t get a lot of news coverage and the system has basically labeled them as obsolete. But make no mistake about it, they are still here. I know because I saw them stand with their hands over their hearts during the stirring rendition of Our National Anthem performed by WSAZ TVs Marina Jurica.
I know because I saw a father who had lost his son in a war weep as the choir sang and honored our fallen heroes.
This country will always have an abundance of self-serving politicians.
This country will always have more than enough TV news political pundits who have never had to pay the supreme sacrifice. This country will always have a lot of people who believe the government is their savior. But along with all of those people, we will always have that citizen who loves his or her God and country. And I can tell you, after they are taxed until there is nothing left to give, and our sovereignty is gone, the world will go looking for someone to believe in, and there he will be, standing at attention with his hand over his heart. And yes, he will rescue this country one more time.
