Olive P. Cunningham, 89, of New Boston, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at SOMC Hospice.

She was born Oct. 23, 1920, in West Union, a daughter of the late Roy Estell Grooms and Estella Schivener Grooms and was of the Baptist faith. She was married in March 1938 to Herschel Carl Cunningham, who preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1997.

She is survived by her son, James Cunningham and wife Maria of Palm Coast, Fla.; her son-in-law, Richard “Dick” Bays of Wheelersburg; her grandchildren, Brian Bays and wife Cheryl of Findlay, Scott Bays and wife Crystal of Wheelersburg, Marcy Mannah and husband David of Gahanna, and Tammy Cunningham of Nashport, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara S. Bays; two brothers, Velton Paul Grooms and Russell Edward Grooms; and two sisters, Lucile Ione Lawson and Erma Avonelle Kitchen.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at East Liberty Cemetery at Lynx, Ohio, with Pastor Brad Brandt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to East Liberty Church at Lynx, Ohio, or SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th St., Portsmouth.
