Residents of Vernon Township will be taking part in a community yard sale beginning at 8 a.m. Aug. 7 at the Vernon Township Community Park, 4168 Turkey Foot Road. The Vernon Township Park Committee will be selling food throughout the day.
There is a $5 set up fee. To get an idea of how many spaces are needed, they are asking crafters and vendors to call to reserve a space by calling (740) 574-2690 or (740) 574-1340.
Summer Sizzle is Aug. 6
Sisters Summer Sizzle will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Lucasville Center Street Church. The event will feature Stephanie Schafer, a comedian, speaker, author, singer, occupational therapist and mother.
There will be a silent auction, games, door prizes, and food. Dress will be casual such as shorts, crop pants and beach attire (no bathing suits). There also will be a best flip-flop contest.
All proceeds will go to New Beginnings. A representative of New Beginnings will be present to answer any questions.

Best Care plans celebration
Best Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will celebrate the opening of the Lighthouse Memory Care Unit and the renovation of the entire facility from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at the facility, 2159 Dogwood Ridge Road, Wheelersburg. There will be refreshments, entertainment and prizes.
