Road work is announced

Craig J. Opperman, Scioto County engineer, announces the work schedule for July 19 to 23 for his office.

Schedule includes:

Stimulus resurfacing program — The Shelly Company will be paving on Dogwood Ridge Road between Lick Run Lyra and Hammerstein, and Dixon Mill between Slocum Heights and Ohio 140. Traffic will be maintained.

Pavement marking (weather permitting) — Oglesby Construction Inc. will be stripping, marking school zones and railroad crossings on various county roads beginning Tuesday. This project will take approximately three weeks.

Concrete pipe installation — Caldwell Road, County Road 58 in Valley Township, will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, both day and night. County engineer’s crews will be installing a concrete pipe located 0.40 mile from U.S. 23 and 1.70 miles from Cockrell’s Run.

Drag patching in various locations — Maple Benner in Clay Township; Henley Comstock in Union Township.

Mowing — Duck Run and Colley Road in Rush Township; McDermott-Pond Creek in Rush and Union townships; Carey’s Run-Pond Creek in Rush and Union townships; Hastings Hill, Ohio River Road, Shela Boulevard and Hammerstein in Porter Township.

Bridge replacement —

Shonkwiler Road, Township road 190 in Jefferson Township, will be closed Monday through Aug. 20, both day and night, located 0.04 mile from Miller’s Run Fallen Timber, 2.00 miles from Pike County. County engineer’s crews will be replacing the bridge.

Hayport Road, County Road 257 in Porter Township, continues to be closed both day and night. Bridge is located 0.63 mile from the west end of U.S. 52, 0.08 mile from Keyport Road, 2.29 miles from the east end of U.S. 52, 1.90 miles from Burkes Lane, and 0.32 mile from Meadows Lane. It is closed for replacement of bridge by DGM Inc. with project oversight by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Detour provided is via U.S. 52, open on both ends.

Legion members takes brick orders

Members of the William A. Baker Post American Legion of Lucasville are taking request for bricks with veterans names for the Memorial Pathway at 23 West St., Lucasville. Cost will be $25 for a 4 by 8-inch with two lines of 18 characters and $35 for a 8 by 8-inch with four lines of 18 characters with one name per brick. Send request to American Legion Post 363, P.O.
