Legion Post hosts celebration

William A. Baker Post 363 American Legion of Lucasville will be hosting a July 4 celebration to celebrate not only our freedom but the completion of its brick Memorial Pathway with veterans’ names at 3 p.m. at the Legion Cabin, 23 West St., Lucasville. The cabin museum will be open with displays. Refreshments and snacks will be served.

CAO offers help this summer

Beginning July 1, residents of Scioto County can apply for help paying their summer energy bills.

The Home Energy Assistance Program’s Summer Crisis Program operates in Ohio from July 1 to August 31 or until funds are exhausted.

“This program is critical for residents who need help staying cool during extreme temperatures,” said Kathy Middleton, HEAP coordinator. The Community Action HEAP Office can help by providing payment assistance on electric bills to eligible families.”

The Summer Crisis Program is designed to assist low-income households with an elderly member (60 or older) or low-income households with a physician documented medical need for electric service to cool a house. Each household is eligible for up to $175 in payment assistance. Households must also be living at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Line ($44,100 for a family of four).

Legion Post participates in parade

The Scioto County Voiture 443 40-8 and James Dickey Post American Legion members will participate in the annual July 4 celebration and parade in South Shore, Ky. The boxcar will leave the Legion Post, 705 Court St., at 10 a.m. for line up in South Shore at 11 a.m.

Greenup to celebrate Saturday

The city of Greenup, KY, will have its fourth annual Fireworks on the River beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday. There will be free inflatables for the children. Fireworks will begin a 9:45 p.m.
