McKell Library launches program

McKell Public Library launches its summer reading program “Make A Splash — Read!” June 22 at the library, 22 McKell Lane, South Shore, Ky. Children will explore the world of water and water fun through stories, songs, games and other activities about oceans, rivers, lakes and pools and the creatures that live there. The 2010 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through adult, with programs, prize drawing, story hours, reading club and more. Families are invited to join the Read-to-me portion of this program.

The fun for children ages 3 to 7 will begin at 10 a.m., and the session for children ages 8 and up will begin at 1 p.m.

The summer reading program will continue through July 13. All programs are free of charge. For more information call the library at (606) 932-4478.

Sister City committee plans meeting

The Portsmouth Sister City Committee will have its annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 23 at the Scioto County Welcome Committee, 342 Second St. Picnic reservation will be $5.

Membership dues are $10 per family. Those who are interested in joining call (740) 353-8292 for membership or reservation.

McKell library shows movies

The McKell Public Library will show movies at 1 p.m. on Thursdays beginning June 24 and continuing through Aug. 5. Refreshments will be served.
