Ida Belle Penix, 69, of Gladys Street, Lucasville, Ohio, died 1:35 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 29, 1940, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Gory and Mae Sparks Adkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Penix, who died April 4, 1984; one brother, Ivory Adkins; and one sister, Nancy Frye.

She is survived by three sons, Glen Little of Wilmington, Ohio, Jesse Penix Jr. and wife Patricia of Lucasville, Ohio, and Wirty Penix and wife Debbie of Lucasville, Ohio; seven daughters, Myra Hessler of Peebles, Ohio, Sharon Penix of Idaho, Ohio, Lora Bowman and fiance Gary Breech of Otway, Ohio, Gay Smith and husband Danny of Lucasville, Ohio, Colleen Penix and fiance Ronnie Spencer of Piketon, Ohio, Lila Brickey and husband Bud of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Jessica Jenkins and husband Brad of Otway, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Inez Morrison of Lucasville, Ohio.

Ida was retired from Edgewood Manor of Lucasville, Ohio, was a former employee of Rendezvous Nursing Home in McDermott, and was formerly employed as a Mental Health Technician in Ocala, Fla. She was a member of the Henley Baptist Church.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010, at the Botkin Funeral Home in Otway with Anthony Hoffer and Carl Sheets officiating. Burial followed in Big Run Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
