Emma Rose Collier Townsend, 65, of Hodgenville, Ky., passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky. She was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Letcher County, Ky. She was the daughter of the late Wilburn Collier Sr. and Cora McCray Collier. She was a member of the Baptist faith and was disabled.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William E. Townsend Sr.; two brothers, Ark Willis Collier and Irvin Collier; five sisters, Oma Champion, Betsy Lou Mullins, Nanetta Maynard, Zelma Lee Champion, and Arminda Howard.

Emma is survived by two sons, William “Billy” Townsend and Scott Townsend, both of Hodgenville, Ky.; four daughters, Shawn Risinger of Cecilia, Ky., Leila Marie Rawling of South Webster, Michelle Lynn Townsend of Brandenburg, Ky., Tammy Lynn Dittiger of Mel Bourne, Fla.; five brothers, Tony Collier of Fisherville, Ky., Shorty Collier of Ida, Mich., Ben Collier of Massillon, Ohio, Eugene Collier and Wilburn Collier Jr., both of Portsmouth; four sisters, Ival Bartley of Smyrna, Tenn., Violet Dyer of Sciotoville, Leona Cooper Hobbs of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Cora Mae Smith of Scottsburg, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2010, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster with Pastor John Baker officiating. Burial will be at Collier Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday noon to 1 p.m. at D.W. Swick in South Webster. Online condolences to dwswickfuneralhome.com.
