Leonard Tackett Sr., 77, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Ky. He was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Riceville, Ky., to the late William and Jenny (Blankenship) Tackett. Leonard was a member of Plymouth Heights Church of the Nazarene and was retired from CSX Railroad where he was a welder and crane operator. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Zora “Collins” Tackett, whom he married July 21, 1956, in Paintsville, Ky. He is also survived by two sons, Leonard (Rose) Tackett Jr. and Jeff (Dana) Tackett, both of Wheelersburg; three sisters, Josie Fitzpatrick, Judy (Jack) Thornton, and Jane (Randy) Tredway; five grandchildren, Bret (Crystal) Tackett, Candy Tackett, Megan (Curtis) Artrip, Brittany Tackett, and Heidi Tackett; six great-grandchildren, Brenten and Skylar Tackett, Ashton and Nathan Johnson, and Aua and Owen Artrip and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, George, Ellis and Roger Tackett, and a sister, Ruby Poe.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Plymouth Heights Church of the Nazarene in Franklin Furnace, Ohio, with Pastor Tim Throckmorton officiating.

Friends may call at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, from 6 to 9 p.m. and one hour before the service on Wednesday, at the church. Interment will be in Haverhill Cemetery.
