Ruby Mae Taylor, 75, of McDermott, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at her residence.

Ruby was born Jan. 10, 1935, in New Boston, to the late Harley C. and Hazel Ruth Smith Ivers. She was the owner/operator of Taylor’s Grocery in McDermott and a waitress at Elks Country Club.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Tony Franklin Taylor; and two brothers, William and Elwood Ivers.

Ruby is survived by one son, Dale F. (Jackie) Taylor of Waverly; one daughter, Toni (Mark) Riggs of McDermott; four grandchildren, Blair Taylor, Holly (Seth) Haynes, Sheena Riggs and Taylor Riggs; special friends who provided care for her, Lawrence Kopicki and Suzanne Dillow; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with George Vastine officiating, and interment in Moon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour before the service on Monday.
