Sarah Irene Clark, 84, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Best Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 2, 1925, in West Portsmouth, to the late Ezekiel and Mary Spriggs Monk. She was a homemaker.

Along with her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Kallender; and three brothers, the Rev. John Monk, David Monk and Thomas Monk.

Sarah is survived by a son, Cecil McCormick of Garrison, Ky.; a daughter, Linda Stockham of Washington State; a brother, Dan “Tinker” Monk of Canton; three sisters, Frances Dallas of South Webster, Anna Jean Parsons of Canton, and Alice Sharpe of Kentucky; along with a special niece Carol Spencer of Attica, Ohio.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday and one hour before the service on Saturday.
