Wade Bales, 23, of Stout has been charged with importuning, a felony of the fifth degree.
“We knew about it on Monday,” Scioto County Sheriff’s Detective Jodi Conkel said. “I went to his house Tuesday and arrested him.”
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office received a complaint from a mother stating that a male subject solicited her daughter for a sexual act and sent her a photograph of his private parts.
Donini said a report was taken and forwarded to a detective for an investigation. During this investigation the detectives were able to locate the suspect and were able to trace the photo and texts back to the suspect’s cell phone that was impounded for evidence.
Because of a probation violation, Bales is being held in the Scioto County Jail without bond.
He was in Portsmouth Municipal Court Wednesday. “They set his bond at $7,500, but he can’t bond out because of the probation violation,” Conkel said. “He’ll have to go back to the judge for probation violation. That’s through Common Pleas Court. He has a hearing scheduled on March 5.”
Donini said the case is still an ongoing investigation and more charges could follow. He said If anybody has any information about the case they can contact Conkel at (740) 351-1091.
