She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Edward H. Fannin, Nov. 1994; parents, Eugene Horsley and Juanita Brannon Horsley; and brother, Harlan Horsley.
She is survived by sons, Ronald Fannin (Patricia Phillips), Burke, Va., and Colin Fannin (Bonnie Coburn), Portsmouth; grandchildren, Cassandra Fannin Tripp (Jonathan) Woodbridge, Va., Kyle Fannin (Jessica Wilt), Georgetown, KY.; Ryan Fannin (Somer Otworth) and Noah Fannin, all of Portsmouth; six great-grandchildren, Ashley Rose Tripp, Zachary James Tripp, Ella Brooke Tripp, Kaidyn Olivia Fannin, Drew Edward Fannin and Sara Madison White; one brother, David Horsley (Donna Canter) of Bixby, OK.; sister-in-law, Mary J. (Parker) Horsley, of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
Mabel worked as a receptionist for the late Drs. Paul and Ruth Bennett for 25 years. She served as the choir director of the Carey’s Run Church of Christ for 27 years and Church Clerk for 38 years. She also was a member of the Portsmouth Chorus, Golden Bears Swim Club, and served as an usher at Shawnee State University.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at F. C. Daehler Mortuary Company with Pastor James Osborne officiating. Burial will be in Scioto Burial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Daehlers and also one hour prior to the service at Daehlers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carey’s Run Church of Christ or the Lions Club.
