The American Legion William A. Baker Post 363 in Lucasville has postponed its All-You-Can-Eat Pancake and Sausage breakfast. The event was scheduled for today, but has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13 because of the weather.
The all-you-can-eat event will cost $4, and will take place at 23 West St., Lucasville, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in support of the Haitian people. Any donations can be sent to P.O. Box 1292, Lucasville, OH 45648.
Pregnancy 101 class begins Feb. 16
ASHLAND, Ky. — The King’s Daughters Maternal Child Health Department is offering free Pregnancy 101 classes to help expectant parents prepare for their new arrival. The next class begins Tuesday, Feb. 16, 6:30 to 9 p.m., in the KDMC Health Education Center (lower level of the Lexington Avenue parking garage), and will continue at the same time and place each Tuesday through March 9. Participants should be between 20 and 34 weeks gestation. The class is limited to 20 couples, and participants should bring two pillows. Registration is required and can be made by calling (606) 408-7366.
The classes cover a full range of topics including anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, stages of labor, relaxation and breathing techniques, anesthesia/pain management, C-section, recovery, breastfeeding and infant care.
Black History Month event at OUS
The American Association of University Women in conjunction with Ohio University Southern Campus will present “101 Years in the Life of Rolland Mayo” as part of Black History Month.
Ohio University instructor, Walter Mayo will interview his father on his life events. He will share his life experiences including hearing his first song on a gramophone, the Ohio River and the 1937 flood.
Students and community are welcome to attend on Feb. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Bowman Auditorium located at 1804 Liberty Ave., Ironton.
