The Vernon Township Trustees held an organizational meeting Dec. 29. The trustees established the meeting date for 2010 as the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the trustees’ office, 4168 Turkey Foot Road, Wheelersburg.
HEAP sign-ups begin
A representative of the United Scioto Senior Activities Inc. Scioto County Multipurpose Senior Citizens Center will be available at these scheduled sign-up locations to take applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). The locations include:
• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at U.S.S.A. Senior Center, 117 Market St.; and
• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 22 at Minford Shopwise, 8348 Ohio 335, Minford.
Applicants should bring proof of income, proof of health insurance payments, Social Security numbers, and proof of citizenship (birth certificate) for all household members, as well as the last paid fuel bill and electric bill. Golden Buckeye Card applications will also be taken.
In-home assistance is available for persons unable to make applications at a sign-up location. Call the Senior Center at (740) 354-6672 to arrange a home visit. Applications may also be obtained at local banks and bank branches, the Senior Center, and the Scioto County Community Action Organization and its Senior Nutrition sites. Assistance will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Senior Center, 117 Market St.
Emergency HEAP assistance is available only through the Scioto County Community Action Organization.

Board members of the Scioto County Law Library Resources Center have filed a copy of the Annual Statement of the Trustees for 2009 with the auditor of state’s office. A copy of the report is available for public inspection, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Scioto County Law Library, Room 306, Scioto County Courthouse, 602 Seventh St.
