He was born June 20, 1925, in Rushtown, Ohio, a son of the late Jacob and Alice Payton Lute.
Vic was a retired stone cutter for Waller Brothers Stone in McDermott and a WWII U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by one son, Gary (Teresa) Lute of Friendship; five daughters, Barbara (John) Thompson, Alice (Robert) Thompson, and Carol Whitaker, all of Lucasville, Nancy (Ray Bivens) Ferrell and Linda (Scott) Mowery, both of McDermott; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Lute of West Portsmouth, Homer Lute and Paul Lute, both of McDermott; and three sisters, Martha Ward of Vandalia, Pearl Smith of South Charleston, Ohio, and Wanda Hollis of Bloomingburg, Ohio.
Vic was also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Greever Lute, Dec. 8, 1995; and one infant son, Victor G. Lute Jr.; one sister, Vivian Brannon; and three brothers, William “Bill” Lute, Lawrence “Speed” Lute, and George “Mi” Lute.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:30 Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, in Scioto Burial Park, with George Vastine officiating. Graveside military rites will be performed by the William A. Baker Post of the American Legion. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
