Audrey Humphrey Payton, 88, of Wheelersburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at SOMC Hospice. 

Audrey was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Charles Wellman and Alice Akers Wellman. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. 

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Workman and husband Bob, of Wheelersburg; Judy Buelow and husband Bill, of Elk Grove, Calif.; six grandchildren, Terry Blackburn, Phil Blackburn, Chris Blackburn, Neal Blackburn, Brian Workman and Steve Workman; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ben Humphrey, in 1966, and Bill Payton, in 2007; five brothers, Eldra, Earl, Roy, Howard and Harold Wellman; two sisters, Maude Dixon and Thelma Stir; and a granddaughter, Karen Blackburn. 

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, with Bryan White officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg.  Online condolences may be made to www.swickbussachamberlin.com.
