“They had a bunch of cars damaged last night,” Scioto County Sheriff’s Captain David Hall told the Portsmouth Daily Times around 11:15 a.m. “We haven’t seen all of the reports yet. They are still coming in. The officers are taking the reports right now.”
One of the victims was Dwight Adams of Fifth Street, West Portsmouth.
“The Sheriff’s Office said the whole West Side got hit,” Adams said. “There’s four of them on my street, and one the other day when it was snowing on the same street. They got at least four of us this morning.”
Adams said he and at least three other neighbors had the rear windows and side glass knocked out of their vehicles, and in some cases the driver’s side mirror was knocked off with what he believes was a baseball bat.
“They dented the back of my cab where they knocked the rear window off on my pickup truck,” Adams said. “This happened at about five this morning.”
Adams said four wheelers run up his street up until 1 a.m. some days, and he said he has reported it to authorities. Adams has also had a lawn mower and a weedeater stolen during the summer.
“It’s just out of hand,” Adams said. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

This is a problem everywhere, no matter what neighborhood. And the university's parking lots get hit a lot at the beginning of each new semester. What, if anything, is being done to guard against this crime which has, like the man said, gotten out of hand?
