Dolores Ruth Mignerey, 81, of West Portsmouth, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at SOMC Hospice.

She was born Jan. 17, 1928, in West Portsmouth, to the late Charles and Esther Lola McCann Mitchell. She was a graduate of Washington High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio University. She retired from Washington-Nile School District in 1992 after 27 years of teaching. She was a member of Nauvoo United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth, Eastern Star, White Shrine, West Portsmouth Garden Club and OEA.

Along with her parents, Delores was preceded in death by a son, Robert B. “Bobby” Mignerey Jr.; and two brothers, Donald E. Mitchell and Eynon “Popeye” Mitchell.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Robert B. Mignerey who she married on July 26, 1946, in Greenup, Ky.; a son, Steven (Beverly) Mignerey of West Portsmouth; three granddaughters, Christy (Kenny) Irwin, Heather (Brian) Howard and Sheena Mignerey; and five great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Steven and Mitchell Irwin and Bobbie Jo and Charlie Jo Howard.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Rick Phillips and Pete Shaffer officiating, and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour before the service on Thursday.

Donations can be made to the Portsmouth West Alumni Association Scholarship Fund in Delores’ name.
