The Greenup County (Ky.) Sheriff’s Department is searching for suspects in a shooting that occurred early Friday morning, injuring one man.

According to Greenup County Sheriff’s Deputy Bob Stewart, Larry Smith heard a noise outside his home at 94 Augusta Lane, in Greenup, Ky., at about 3 a.m. Friday. He went outside and saw someone breaking into his vehicle.

“When he confronted him, he said something to him and the guy ran back to his truck. He jumped into his truck and shot at him out of the truck,” Stewart said.

Smith, 22, was taken to Cabell-Huntington Hospital, in Huntington, W.Va., and Stewart said he was in stable condition Friday afternoon.

“No arrests have been made at this time. We do have some suspects, which we can’t release at this time,” Stewart said.

He said officers do not have a complete description of the suspect — only that he was a white man driving a newer model pickup truck. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office, at (606) 473-7037.
