Virginia Bessie Aliff, 89, of Lucasville, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Best Care Convalescent Center in Wheelersburg.

Born July 16, 1920, in Pike County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ewell and Bertha Elizabeth Bolt Jackson, she was a former employee of Shelby Shoe Factory, was Union Township clerk for 24 years, was a 1938 graduate of Stockdale High School, was a member of Beaver Historical Society and was a member of Owl Creek Mennonite Church.

She is survived by four children, Donna Kelley of Worthington, Nancy (Leon) Higgins of Grove City, John Aliff of Lucasville, and Mark (Lisa) Aliff of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Marven Jackson of San Bernardino, Calif., and Roger (Janice) Jackson of Lucasville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Aliff; and two brothers, Douglas Jackson and Maurice Jackson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Pastor Rodney Bapst officiating. Burial will be at Owl Creek Cemetery in Lucasville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before the service on Thursday.
