Mosquito spraying is announced

• Washington Township trustees will conduct mosquito spraying from 6 p.m. to midnight Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

• Ohio Pest Control Inc. in conjunction with the city of Portsmouth will conduct mosquito spraying from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday in Sciotoville. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done Sept. 21 at the same time.

• Ohio Pest Control Inc. in conjunction with the Porter Township trustees will conduct mosquito spraying from 9 p.m. to midnight Monday and Tuesday. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done Sept. 21 and 21 at the same time.

• Ohio Pest Control Inc. in conjunction with the village of Piketon will conduct mosquito spraying from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done Sept. 22 at the same time.

• Ohio Pest Control Inc. in conjunction with the city of Portsmouth will conduct mosquito spraying from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done Sept. 22 and 23 at the same time.

• Ohio Pest Control Inc. in conjunction with the Nile Township trustees will conduct mosquito spraying from 8 to 11 p.m. Wednesday. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done Sept. 23 at the same time.

• Ohio Pest Control Inc. in conjunction with the Rush Township trustees will conduct mosquito spraying from 6 to 11 p.m. Wednesday. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done Sept. 23 at the same time.

• Ohio Pest Control Inc. in conjunction with the Scioto County Commissioners will conduct mosquito spraying from 11 p.m. to midnight Wednesday. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done Sept. 23 at the same time.

Anyone with respiratory problems should consider closing their windows and shutting off any window unit air conditioners until the fog has dissipated.

Engineer plans schedule

Craig J. Opperman, Scioto County engineer, announces the work schedule for Monday, Sept. 14, through Friday, Sept. 18. The work will include:

• Culvert replacement — Lucasville-Minford, County Road 28 in Madison Township, will be closed at multiple locations between Glendale and High Street from Tuesday, Sept. 15, through Thursday, Sept. 17, starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. each day. County crews will be installing culvert pipes.

• Road work:

Base work — Carey’s Run Pond Creek in Washington Township.

Berm work — Bennett Schoolhouse at Glades Road.

Ditching — McDermott Pond Creek in Union Township.

• Road improvement project —

Sugar Camp-Jackson Fork, Township Road 287 in Bloom Township, will be closed at various locations for pavement repairs and ditching. The project is located from Ohio 140 to Essman-Sugar Camp. Local traffic will be maintained. The road will be under construction through Friday, Nov. 6. ATCS-Reiser Construction will be performing the work. This is a combined project of the county engineer and the Bloom Township trustees.

• Mowing — Big Spruce-Little Bear Creek and Thompson Hill in Brush Creek and Union townships; Tick Ridge-Koenig HIll and Rocky Fork in Brush Creek Township; Clinton Furnace in Vernon Township; Great Meadow and Pine Creek in Bloom Township; Lick Run Lyra in Bloom, Porter and Vernon townships.

• Bridge replacement —

Hayport Road, County Road 257, in Porter Township continues to be closed both day and night. Bridge is located 0.63 mile from the west end of U.S. 52, 0.08 mile from Keyport Road, 2.29 miles from the east end of U.S. 52, 1.90 miles from Burkes Lane, and 0.32 miles from Meadows Lane. It is closed for replacement of bridge by DGM Inc. with project oversight by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Detour is provided via U.S. 52; road is open at both ends.

Sugar Camp-Jackson Fork, Township Road 287 in Bloom Township, continues to be closed through Friday, Nov. 6, both day and night. The bridge is located 1.02 miles from Ohio 140, 1.60 miles from Essman-Sugar Camp. ATCS-Reiser Construction will be replace the bridge.

Disterdick Lane, Township Road 278 in Green Township, continues to be closed through Saturday, Oct. 31, both day and night. The bridge is located at the intersection of Apel Road, 0.44 mile from Disterdick Road, 2.34 miles from Ohio 522 and 2.71 miles from Haverhill-Ohio Furnace. The bridge will be replaced by U.S. Bridge.

Dixon Mill Road, County Road 15 in Porter Township, will be closed Monday, Sept. 14, through Friday, Nov. 6, both day and night. The bridge is located 0.06 miles from Ohio 140, 0.50 miles from Hansgen Morgan Road, and 0.95 miles from Tick Ridge. County crews will be replacing the bridge.
