She was born Aug. 8, 1933, in Greenup Co., Ky., a daughter of the late Lester Howell and Maddie Odessa Dunaway Howell. She was a homemaker and retired from the former Flannery Nursing Home in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Wolfe.
Surviving are her husband, Boyd Carter of South Shore; sons, Tim Wolfe of Clay City, Ind., Jim Wolfe of South Shore, Rock Wolfe of West Portsmouth, Ohio, and Randall Wolfe of West Portsmouth, Ohio; stepsons, Herbie Carter of South Shore and Rodney Carter of South Shore; one stepdaughter, Mary Ann Williamson of Tolleboro, Ky.; brothers, Lester Howell Jr. of South Shore, Paul Howell of South Shore and Don Howell of South Shore; sisters, Wanda Howland of South Portsmouth, Ky., and Sharon Bryant of South Shore; 12 grandchildren, Timmy, Stacey, Tony, Kariana, Jimmy, Lindsay, Lacey, Rebecah, Mike, Jimmy, Shelly, and Autumn; and 13 great-grandchildren, Oslo, Kayleigh, Alex, Hunter, Demi, Mason, Kasey, Alexis, Skyler, Kerrigan, Kendall, Latesha, and Corey.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Carl Lynn Wolfe; a granddaughter, Amber Wolfe; a great-granddaughter, Greata Faye Wolfe; brothers, Burnice, Lloyd and Kenneth Howell; and sisters, Rosemary Carter, Linda Sue Howell and Mary Louise Howell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with Frank Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in Kehoe Cemetery in Greenup Co., Ky. Visitation will be Wednesday 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
