Thomas J. Farmer, 72, of Sciotoville, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus.

Born Feb. 21, 1937, at Norwalk, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Cornelia Farmer. Tom was retired from Malco Industries, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Eagles, and Sons of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife Lois Farmer; one son Thomas Farmer of Wheelersburg; two daughters Staci Farmer of Wheelersburg and Louise Caudill of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Gaven Thomas Farmer, Nicholas Spencer Farmer, Jackie Caudill, and Jacob Caudill.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Farmer and James Farmer; and one sister, Rita Wise.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Ted Machnik officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Melcher Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Recitation of the Rosary will be 8 p.m. Tuesday at Melcher Funeral Home.
