Billy C. Bowles, 62, of Grove City, died 5:49 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, in Mount Carmel Medical Center unexpectedly.

He was born July 21, 1947, in Chillicothe, to Herschel and Ruth Ratcliff Bowles.

Surviving are his mother, Ruth Bowles of Grove City; a son, Billy E. (Melissa) Bowles of Beaver, Ohio; a grandson, Aaron Bowles; a sister, Patricia Baker of Grove City; a brother, Ed (Sue) Bowles of Grove City; former wife, Marla K. Bowles of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews; and an uncle, Claude Ratcliff of Chillicothe.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Glynda Bowles.

Billy was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He was a retired Fire Sprinkler Fitter and was a member of American Legion Post No.164 of Grove City.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, in the Ware Funeral Home in Chillicothe, with the Rev. Brett Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the V.F.W. Honor Guard of Grove City. Friends may call at Wares from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the, V.F.W. Honor Guard, c/o American Legion, 3363 McDowell St., Grove City, OH 43123.
