Raymond A. “Shorty” Pertuset, 70, of Henley Deemer Road, McDermott, Ohio, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Scioto County, a son of the late James A. and Lucy Evans Pertuset.

He is survived by one son, Raymond A. Pertuset Jr. and wife Kelly of Galloway, Ohio; one daughter, Melissa Pertuset of Circleville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Justin Dale Pertuset of London, Ohio, Christopher Pertuset of Columbus, Ohio, and Katelyn, Megan, and Emily Garbrandt; two special nieces, Anita Sweeney and Denise Raubenolt, both of McDermott; two brothers, Charles Robert Pertuset of McDermott, and Dan Pertuset of Columbus, Ohio; and one sister, Juanita Bomba of North Riderville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy and Donald Pertuset; and one sister, Ethel Hayslip.

Raymond was a former employee of Westinghouse Corp. in Columbus, Ohio, for 15 years, was a former employee of Portsmouth Raceway Park and the Redoutey sawmill, was a member of the I.B.E.W., and was a former member of the Union Township Fire Dept.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at the Botkin Funeral Home in Otway, with Pastor James E. Pertuset officiating. Burial will follow in Garvin Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
