She was born July 3, 1921, in Adams County, to the late William and Alice Wolfe Shively. Mary was a homemaker and attended Calvary Chapel Church in Portsmouth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie George Dillow, in 1981; four brothers, John, Denver, Everett and Emory Shively; and three sisters, Clara Monk, Bessie Russell and Peachie Murphy.
Mary is survived by five favorite children, Leslie Henry (Janet) Dillow of Stout, Franklin Junior (Joyce) Dillow of Lucasville, Donald Ray (Barbara) Dillow of Stout, Mary Ann (Robert) Gregory of Lucasville, and Herbert Eugene (Sharon) Dillow of Stout; 16 grandchildren, Timothy (Mary) Dillow, Rickey Dillow, Jason (Linda) Dillow, Gregory (Vicki) Dillow, Rhonda Dillow, Michael (Diane) Dillow, Floyd Gilmon, Jenetta Dillow-Prince-Vassar, Leslie Dillow, George (Karen) Bolton, Deborah (Alfred) Vangant, Robert Gregory, Charles Gregory, Katherine Gregory, Charity (Bryan) Dillow Bruch and Chasidy Dillow; 34 great-grandchildren; Tyler, Brandon, Courtney (Alan), David, Jessica, Christopher, Ivan, Nickolas, Madison, Chase, Zachary, Johnna, Brooklyn, Issac, Braxton, Sarah, Coby, Stephanie, Aaron, Casey, Issac, Noah, Elysia, Courtney, Christopher, Brandon, Clayton, Moriah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Levi, Emma, Christian and Micah; and four great-great-grandchildren; Devin, Hunter, Madison and Micah.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Pastor Joe Bruch officiating, and interment in McKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour before the service on Wednesday.
