Donald A. Moyer, 91, of Lady Lake, Fla., died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Villages Regional Hospital.

He was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Wood Moyer and Alma C. Moyer. Donald was a member of the Pollard Methodist Church of Ashland, Kentucky. He had a 34-year career in the steel mill in New Boston, Ohio, where he was a member of the management club. He was also a scout for the Cincinnati Reds, a member of the Masonic, Elks, and Shriners and a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys P. Manning Moyer of 70 years; an only daughter, Donna Jo Treadway of The Villages, Fla.; two grandchildren, Dawn Carpenter of Sorrento, Fla., and Steven Treadway of Ocala, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Rachel and Audrey Carpenter and Leigh, Lauren and Lilly Brooke Treadway; and one brother, Woodrow Moyer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Moyer, Andrew Moyer and Woodrow Moyer; and three sisters, Evelyn Sagowitz, Margaret Turner and Lettie Reese Saunders.

Funeral services were under the direction of Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg.

Dear Gladys and Donna Jo,

I am so sorry for your loss. I too just recently lost my dad at the same age as Don. I know the pain of such loss. I am praying for you. The Lord is ever so near for our needed comfort.
