Vena Willis, 81, of South Webster, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at her home.

She was born July 25, 1927, in Scioto County, a daughter of the late John B. and Phoebe Craft Adams. She was retired from SOMC-ER after 23 years, and was a member of Happy Hollow Union Church in Tollesboro, Ky., where along side her husband Roy, pastored for two and a half years.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Willis whom she was united in marriage with on Jan. 17, 1948. Also surviving are her daughter, Rhonda Willis of South Webster; a granddaughter, Wendi Williams of Dayton; two sisters, Jessie Hildreth of Florida and Lima Hypes of Cincinnati; two brothers, Gorden B. Adams of Sciotoville and Robert Adams of New Jersey; several nieces, nephews and two very special friends to the family, Carla Barber and Brenda Rollins.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Johnny Adams; one sister, Monrova Taylor; and nine half brothers and sisters. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Union Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating. Burial will be at South Webster cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to SOMC Hospice, 2501 25th, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
