Charles E. Moore Jr., 75, of Portsmouth, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2009, at Hempstead Nursing Home.
He was born July 1, 1933, a son of the late Charles and Dorothy Reeder Moore. He worked for the State of Ohio Department of Corrections in education and also as Director of Education at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. He served as a past president of the Civic Forum of Portsmouth and owned Frisch’s Big Boy at 12th and Offnere. He served in the Korean War. Charles attended Ohio State attaining a B.A. and Akron University for his Master’s and Ph.D.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Warner Moore.
Surviving are his son, Charles “Chuck” Moore III and his wife Katie; along with two sisters and one brother. His longtime friends and caregivers, Al and Callie Nelson, are offered special thanks for their constant support. His faithful minister and friends, Larry and Susan McAdams, offered spiritual support throughout the years. Finally, a very sincere word of thanks goes to the professional and caring staff at Hempstead who watched over him like an extended family.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
