Evening with the Arts is Thursday

The Northwest Local School District will present its 24th annual Evening with the Arts program Thursday.

Northwest Elementary School’s students’ art and writing projects will be displayed in an open house format from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the elementary school, 4728 Henley Deemer Road, McDermott.

Northwest Middle School and Northwest High School’s students’ selected art and writing projects, as well as industrial arts woodworking and family and consumer sciences projects will be displayed from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the gymnasium at Northwest HIgh School, 914 Mohawk Drive, McDermott. Selected dance, instrumental and vocal performances will be conducted beginning at 7 p.m. in the high school cafetorium for your entertainment.

Members of the Northwest Community are invited and encouraged to the Northwest Evening with the Arts program to demonstrate their support of the students.

Fabulous Friday is this week

Shawnee State University will host the fourth annual “Fabulous Friday” conference from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday.

The event is especially for child care providers and early childhood educators. “Fabulous Friday” consists of break-out sessions taught by experienced child care providers, college faculty of SSU and Ohio University and practitioners in the field. Child care providers also can get the professional development needed to keep their licenses active.

Car show is April 25

The Bob Seals Memorial Car Show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 25 at Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, 4205 Cedar St., New Boston.

Entry fee will be $10. Vehicle registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be beans, cornbread, hamburgers, hot dogs, desserts, snow cones, root beer floats, music, inflatables and face painting. Also there will be “Dunk the Pastor.”

The top 25 trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m., and judges choice will awarded.

Beef barbecue dinner is April 26

The Promise Team of the Counseling Center Inc. will sponsor a free community southern beef barbecue dinner from 4 to 6 p.m April 26 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 610 Fourth St.
