Waverly softball looked poised to keep its undefeated streak going on Saturday after defeating Chillicothe 5-0 in the first game of a doubleheader at home.

Unioto however, had other plans, defeating Waverly 4-2 in the second game.

The Lady Tigers (6-1) tied the contest just before heading into the seventh inning. Unioto led the top of the inning off with a triple. That runner scored on a base hit and the last run came across as a result of a wild pitch.

"We didn't hit the ball today," Waverly coach Cookie Kritzwiser said. "The 23 hits we got (Friday) was too much. We should have saved some of them. We'll be back."

In Waverly's win to start the day, Caitlin Shilling earned the victory with seven strikeouts in a complete-game no-hitter. Shilling also went 1-for-4 with a double.

Ari Leslie led the Lady Tigers' offense by going 3-for-3 with a double and a triple.

Shilling took the loss in the second game despite striking out 12 batters. Kandi Preston went 2-for-4 with two runs scored against Unioto.

Waverly travels to Oak Hill on Monday.
