The Scioto Regional Water District No. 1 is one of four entities in the state of Ohio this week to receive the Auditor of State Award for their clean audit reports.

According to State Auditor Dave Yost, entities that receive the award meet the criteria of a clean audit report. Those requirements include filing timely financial reports with the Auditor of State’s office in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles); filing a report that does not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings or questioned costs; and a management letter that contains no comments related to ethics referrals, questioned costs less than $10,000, lack of timely report submission, reconciliation, failure to obtain a timely Single Audit, findings for recovery less than $100, or public meetings or public records.

In addition to the Scioto Regional Water District No. 1, the State Auditor’s office also gave its award this week to the Adams County Regional Water District in Adams County, the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District in Tuscarawas County, and the Public Entities Pool of Ohio in Lucas County.

According to the Auditor’s Office, the award is given as frequently as the office releases audit reports — often twice a week.

The Scioto Regional Water District No. 1 is the only Scioto County entity to receive the award in this latest cycle, but other local entities have also received the award this year — including the Washington-Nile School District and the Scioto County Career Technical Center in March, and Minford School and the South Central Ohio Educational Services Center in February.
