Ray Collier, 94, of Portsmouth, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born Sept. 19, 1918 in Portsmouth to the late William Collier and Stella Kelly Collier.
He retired from Goodyear Atomic Plant as a refrigeration mechanic, and was a World War II Navy veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Jane Collier, on Feb. 1, 2010; one grandson; five sisters and two brothers.
Ray is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Collier of St. Louis, Missouri, and Brian Keith (Vera) Collier of Knoxville, Tennessee; one daughter, Brenda Kay (James) Burns of Seattle, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Ray was a phenomenal father and enjoyed interacting with many friends. He seemed to have had a charmed life and was well respected.
At Ray’s request there will be no funeral service or visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth.
