In the spirit of the original Boston Tea Party, a group of citizens will host a Portsmouth TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party Wednesday, “tax day,” at 5 p.m. at Tracy Park, as a part of a national event.
“The purpose of it is really to make some citizens’ collective voices heard in Washington that they don’t necessarily like the direction that the country is taking right now,” said Dale Egbert, one of the organizers. “One of the examples are an almost-trillion-dollar stimulus bill that passed with very few members of the House and Senate having read the bill before they passed it.”
Egbert said another issue is a carbon cap and trade being discussed in Washington.
