If you lived through the ’50s you probably would like to revisit them once in a while. If you didn’t, here’s your chance. Greenup County Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH) invites you to take a look back into the ’50s as they host their Second Friday McCruise-In from 6-9 p.m. Friday at McDonald’s in Flatwoods.
Rhonda Nunley, President of GCHFH, said the event will take place in the Food Fair parking lot, located at 2133 Argillite Road. Special activities will include ’50s music, decorations, trivia and a raffle for auto care supplies. Participants are encouraged to decorate their vehicle or dress up according to ’50s theme, but it is not required.
“The money we raise will go for construction. We are currently doing two smaller repair projects, and we’re getting ready to start our second home, and we’re trying to build up funds for that,” Nunley said. “We just had our golf scramble, which is a big fundraiser for us, and we’re hoping to have a 5K if we can find a date.”
She said participants in the cruise-in can start registering cars, trucks, motorcycles and any other type of vehicles at 6 p.m. for a donation of $5. All types, makes, models and years of vehicles are welcome.
Nunley said McDonald’s is the event sponsor and will provide contest prizes. Door prizes include $25 John Clark Oil gas gift cards, with one card given away every 15 minutes from 7-9 p.m. for those who register a vehicle. WLGC 105.7 will be on site and have a live remote broadcast. Fifty/fifty tickets will be sold with the drawing held at 9 p.m.
Admission is free for spectators. Anyone needing information can call 606-836-0421 for more information or visit their website at greenupcountyhabitat.org.
