Amalia Szava-Grundler and Aaron Matthew Sturgeon were united in marriage May 18 in Siesta Key, Florida. The Reverend Kym James of DeGraff United Methodist Church, formerly of Portsmouth, officiated.
The maid of honor was Alexandra Szava-Grundler, sister of the bride, and the bride’s matron was Jessica James, friend of the bride. The best man was Richard Sturgeon, brother of the groom, and groomsman was Jonathan James, friend of the groom. The flower girl was Claire Grundler, niece of the bride. Music was provided by Anthony Sturgeon, father of the groom. A reception followed at Turtle’s on Little Sarasota Bay.
The bride is a daughter of Kristin Szava of Cincinnati and the late Mark Grundler of Portsmouth. Amalia is the step daughter of Steve Verssen of Cincinnati. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Shawnee State University. She is employed by Dinsmore and Shohl in Charleston, W.Va.
Aaron is the son of Anthony and Paula Sturgeon of Wheelersburg. He graduated from Wheelersburg High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Shawnee State University. He will graduate in May 2014 from the University of Charleston (W.Va.) with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. He is employed by Kroger Pharmacies.
Following a honeymoon to Jamaica, the couple resides in Charleston.
A reception for family and friends will be held June 8 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Portsmouth.
