On Friday, Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people, recovered a stolen vehicle, a stolen license plate, drug paraphernalia and multiple ingredients used to cook methamphetamine. Jeremy Mullins, 33, of 8537 Ohio 335 in Minford, and Stacey M. Huffman, 29, of 223 1/2 Pyle St., Lucasville are both charged with receiving stolen property.

Deputies were called to an apartment on High Street in Minford, where someone had reported a man and woman asleep in a 1992 Honda Accord. The first thing authorities noticed was the license tag belonged to a 1999 Ford truck. When the deputies ran the Vehicle Identification Number, it came back as a stolen vehicle.

Deputies said they took Mullins to a cruiser and placed him inside and began to get Huffman from the vehicle, advising her of her Miranda Rights. They said Huffman kept talking and said she did not know where the car came from. Meanwhile, deputies said Mullins kept yelling at her, telling her not to say anything and to get an attorney.

Huffman was placed in handcuffs and put in a Ohio State Highway Patrol vehicle while deputies searched the stolen vehicle. In the car they found a spoon with burnt residue, new and used syringes and a pen tube used as a snort tube with residue inside.

It was when they opened that trunk that they found a variety of ingredients, including table salt, sea salt, drain opener, a bag of ammonium nitrate in a glass bowl with a lid, three funnels, a bottle with a safety cap, containing a white powder, a small mason jar with a blue towel, and an unknown liquid, all used to manufacture meth.

In addition, deputies located a large keyboard, a Playstation 2, an air tank, a shop vac, tools and an empty jewelry box. They also found a black can of spray paint that had been used to paint their initials on the roof of the car.
