Oiver Lee Carver, 78


Oliver Lee Carver, 78, of McDermott, died Thursday, May 1, 2013, at SOMC Hospice.


He was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Lucasville, a son of the late James Edward and Pearlie Ruth Crabtree Carver.


Oliver was retired lab supervisor for the Heckett Company in Ashland, Ky., a retired purchasing director and diesel instructor for Shawnee State University, and a former diesel mechanic for Empire Detroit Steel. Oliver was an Elder for the Pleasant Valley Branch of the Community of Christ, and a 1952 McDermott High School graduate.


He is survived by his wife, Audrey Lundy Carver, whom he married Sept. 18, 1954 in Liberty, Ind.; two daughters, Karen (Thomas) Curtis of McDermott and Peggy (Ken) Cornett of Union, Ky.; two sons, Ed (Sherry) Carver of McDermott and Matt (Leslie) Carver of Circleville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Cliff Carver of Troy, James Carver Jr. of Lucasville, Glen Carver of Hillsboro, and Dale Carver of Lucasville.


He was also preceded in death by one brother, Warren Carver; and one sister, Joann Amburgey.


Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the Pleasant Valley Branch of the Community of Christ with Dr. Paul Crabtree, Andy Day, and Donald Rachford officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and an hour before the service Sunday at the church.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church’s food pantry, 767 Sedan Crabtree Road, Lucasville, Ohio 45648.
